- to escape, flee, run away;
Etymology
Ideogrammic compound:
辵 (착, “to walk, to move”) — semantic element, indicating movement.
兔 (토, “rabbit, hare”) — semantic + phonetic element, suggesting quickness and sound.
Together depict “a rabbit running swiftly on a path”, hence “to escape, to flee.” Later extended metaphorically to ease, leisure, freedom.

Additional notes
Double semantic shift: originally “to escape quickly,” later broadened to mean “free, at ease, unrestrained.”
Often used in contrast with 勞 (로/노, “toil, labor”): 逸 = ease, 勞 = labor.
In classical texts, can also mean “to lose” (e.g., 逸失, “to miss, to lose track”).
