키조개

A shell in the shape of a winnowing basket or a hand-held fan, whose hard shell has wheel-shaped lines on it. This giant clam belongs to the family Penisidae, order Mussels, class Bivalvia. Its massive size, exceeding 30cm, is characterized by its elongated, triangular shell, which widens from the narrow apex towards the sides. When turned vertically, it resembles a shovel used to remove the chaff of grain, hence its name. It is renowned as the largest clam native to the Korean Peninsula, and its shell is sharp enough to be used as a kitchen knife.
