黍

Millet is a grain crop that belongs to the grass family, and it closely resembles proso millet (조) in appearance.

In small seal script, according to the Shuowen Jiezi, the character is a compound ideogram made by combining:

禾 (meaning "grain/crop") and simplified form of 雨 ("rain").

In oracle bone script, the character was modeled directly after the shape of millet.
